And who, pres tel, decided to contract those companies for the parts in order to cut costs? Takada! I think breakfaastatmine119 summed it up pretty well beyond that. So, try putting the blame where it lies.

(lol, "pres tel") His response was in answer to gaijintraveller's previous question:

Japan is hot and humid in the summer. Any recalls here?

The faulty parts were manufactured in Mexico for the (North?) American market. Another gift from NAFTA.

At the end of the day it is still the fault of Takata Corp. If it was the fault of the plant in Mexico, then it was a severe lack of oversight and safeguards by Japanese engineers.

Also, NAFTA has nothing to do with a Japanese company opening a factory in Mexico.

Ah, yes! When in doubt blame humidity! Let's just face the truth of the matter! They are poorly designed, mass produced and cheap pieces of crap! There is no doubt that Takada knew they were producing sub-standard garbage that could cause fatal injuries, but they just took the cash and said nothing! They should be facing manslaughter and fraud charges.

To inflate an air bag quickly enough there must be a bomb in each air bag in your car. That some of them explode improperly should not be such a surprise. Opponents of air bags at the time they were required told us that was inevitable. It is also likely to happen to any new bombs used in the recall. With experience the percentage of "bad" explosions will be reduced, not eliminated.

The faulty inflators are used in both driver and passenger-side air bags. Globally, about 50 million inflators are subject to recall.

Takata faulty inflators = 2 grenades embedded in your car

Using “phase-stabilized” ammonium nitrate without a moisture-absorbing substance (1) — as Takata does — increases the risk of an explosion after long-term exposure to high temperatures and moisture (2). Orbital ATK also found that Takata’s inflator assembly doesn’t adequately prevent moisture from intruding in very humid conditions (3).

The Takata 3:

-Where were the engineers?

The cause of the problem has eluded investigators for more than a decade. Takata has given multiple explanations, including quality control problems at manufacturing facilities and exposure of the air bags to high humidity.

Ok, so you explained it...and said...

In a statement Tuesday, Takata said the coalition’s results are consistent with its own testing. Takata said age and long-term exposure to heat and high humidity appear to be significant factors in cases where inflators have malfunctioned. The company said it is cooperating with the coalition and the U.S. government.

My question; if you knew about it why didnt you do anything? Knowing about it and then covering it up sounds to me like you are criminally negligent for supplying a faulty product.

Cooperate all you want, FIX the damn problem!
