Oh come on, they are so happy to have an excuse to cut production rates

I don’t understand a word. When I still had a real car and drove it on speed limitless autobahn, there were (almost) no electronic chips inside and they also weren’t necessary at all. You are talking about a problem that is only existing in your sick diverted thinking and phantasies.

Do you know what CAN-Bus is and how the different architectures work? CAN-Bus replaces big bundles of wires under the hood and throughout the cars body with either one or two fiber optic cables connected to all of the car's systems. It's a very clean system in most applications but it does drive the need for microprocessors to read instructions to do something as they are transmitted on the CAN-Bus and report back that the task was completed. It is how most modern aircraft work.

Technology in cars is basically the same as over 100 years ago and in EVs, over 60 years!

@zichi - if you're missing the no frills style of Car - perhaps consider a Kit car.
From the cheap, and basic:

Do you think your Missus would allow you the pleasure of driving one of these ?

(Pre-made or in Kit form - though has an added thrill of ... Speed.).
