Convenience store operator Seven-Eleven Japan Co said Thursday that it will start selling alcoholic drinks on the Internet in late June. The move is part of the company's plan to revamp its Web-based retail operations by expanding the number of available items to about 5,000 from 3,500 at present.

The unit of Seven & i Holdings Co will offer a choice of 4,000 alcoholic drinks, including 1,200 brands of sake, 900 types of shochu distilled spirits and 1,000 different wines. Alcoholic drinks will make up 80% of the online lineup. The company will consider adding frozen food to the list.
