Seven & i Holdings said Monday that it will increase monthly salaries at its group companies by 5,229 yen from April. The companies include Ito-Yokado stores and 7-Eleven convenience stores.
The pay rise will be the first since 2009. It comes in response to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's call to the private sector to raise wages in order to stop the deflationary trend in the economy.
