Sharp begins solar maintenance business in Asia

Sharp Corp said Friday it has signed an agreement to provide maintenance service for a mega-solar power generation plant in Thailand. This plant, which will be one of the world’s largest, will be operated by NED, a major independent power producer in that country.

Sharp was awarded the construction contract for this power plant and has also received an order to provide thin-film solar cell modules and related peripheral systems. Construction began in August 2010, and is currently in progress.
