Shinsei bank sucks! They pulled a switcharoo on all its foreign customers. It was a scam to collect foreigner's personal data abroad on behalf of the J-gov.

Shinsei isn't as foreigner friendly as it was in the past - it annoys me that they don't even make the effort anymore to promote products to foreigners, even credit cards. It's home loan process is slow and cumbersome and just plain weird compared to other banks. But I have used them for years and as a standard bank they are OK. Better than Rakuten bank which puts gambling adverts in every email - shocking.

Shinsei was great 15 years ago. Their service has only got worse and worse over the years.

At Zichi: If you use Shinsei for remittances of pensions and dollars from America then you are American and not British but can you be both? Just curious. Not hunting for private info.
Does not the Shinsei Bank pass on your dollar dealings to the Japanese tax people and make you declare it as income and taxable?

@Zichi: yea often get confused, it not from traveling as we plan ample time to catch trains etc., but when traveling I depend on my most significant other as she is brilliant. I ATM it, she does the planning. I could never compete in reading skills in this language with her. I learn daily.
Income from various sources and taxation is confusing though.
Am happy you are able to do that through your business.

If SBI takes over, maybe they will improve the user interface of online banking and improve the mobile app.
