Stand by for a storm of tweets about "failing", "overrated" Starbucks coffee...

The cynic in me says PR coup plus access to some docile and cheap labor (as an added bonus) but I nonetheless applaud the gesture as this could help quite a few ppl and it's all that matters at the end.
100% genuine philanthropy & altruism, probably not, but it is 'something' I guess. (hopefully they'll get a couple of amateur baristas among them. The ME, Africa, central america etc know a thing or 2 about coffee and starbucks could def do with a few more coffee lovers who didn't grow up on caramel lattes and frappuccinos but quality black coffee )

W theeast...
A storm in a coffee cup.

That sounds very charitable, but will they start paying their taxes too.
Alistair Carnell
I think my first post was misinterpreted, maybe I could have worded it better, I meant to say, I hope that Starbucks will pay their own taxes (as there have been cases of avoidance).
Dan Lewis
Well that's not going to help the image of "immigrants stealing our jobs..."

I do prefer Excelsior Coffer, great morning specials.
Starbucks I found too pricey and I hate to-go cups.
Final point as a european I don't like US coffee flavours Tully etc are the worst, I do import my coffee from my hometown every month.
Pacech1967
I say Frappuchino, not their invention, don't care who prepares it.

I'm refugee. Where can I apply for the job?

Lovely generalization there. Care to support it with some evidence?
Teri Tagami
Good to hear that. It means that the tax payers won't have to support the unemployed with handouts from the government. They will pay taxes like everyone else and take care of themselves. Bravo!

Do people still go to Starbucks? Overpriced, rock hard wooden chairs, Japanese employees are great, but US workers act like they need a good slap in the face.
kaimycahl
Who cares people should boycott and not buy Moonbucks coffee!! The stuff is terrible and over priced!!!
haiyai
out of the 27 that Japan let in last year..
Alex Einz
they should open more shops in Turkey and Greece then... That said.. starbucks coffee is overburned crap anyway...
bobsap
and let's guess how many will be employed in Japan.
Andrew Crisp
Starbucks has two things going for it Japan - free wifi and Matcha latte's - as for hiring refugee's as staff, good luck with that most are illiterate.
