Adding jobs is good for Subaru and good for the US.

Subaru has strong momentum in the USA. Customers appreciate the AWD and reliability of the vehicles. Subaru is also the most profitable of global automakers. In the USA, Subaru highlights that its brand garners the highest resale value compared to every other brand. Subarus are not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for and customer demand for their vehicles keep rising.

I own a 2009 Outback XT. I love not only that it has AWD but also 8.5" of ground clearance. Above average mechanical build quality is a hallmark of Subaru, in my opinion. It may not have a lot of fancy electronics, but that's fine with me.

I remember when I was considering purchasing a car, I considered the Audi A6 Avant and the Subaru Outback XT. I worried about the long term reliability of the Audi, and so opted for the Subaru. When the Subaru salesperson asked me if I wanted to buy an extended warranty I replied, "I'm in a Subaru dealership partly because I won't need to buy an extended warranty!"

Subarus are especially popular east of the Rocky Mountains in the USA, especially in the upper midwestern states and the northeastern states, where the four-wheel drive system is highly appreciated in the snowy winters encountered in these states. It's likely the expanded plant will produce the very popular XV Crosstrek version of the Impreza for the US market.

@Raymond: Ut ia popular in Western state, too. It is not competing against other automakers.
