This is going to have big consequences on a lot of Japanese automakers. It will affect Honda the most. Honestly, Honda needs to improve its engine technology. Their engines' power output:RPM ratio lags far behind other automakers. Vtech technology is outdated.

Takata will sue the US if Congress passes the TPP.

But, the real problem is, Takata knew about this problem over ten years ago and did nothing about it. I have a 2008 Honda Stepwgn, which has Takata airbag inflators installed. Tokyo is very hot and humid during the summer months. Can I get the inflators replaced for free or do I just pray the inflators doesn't explode in my face?

Takata did say in a statement that it is working with NHTSA and automakers “to develop long-term, orderly solutions to these important safety issues.”

Takata is thinking like a Japanese company. IT thinks that these types of statements and inaction will help create an image of stability and cooperation with their customer base, thinking people will trust them to do the right thing.

They are in for a serious shock!
