Good old Hapan Inc.! Corruption scandal, get caught, claim innoncence and blame others, hold records illegally, get caught in the lie, say you still hope to make a profit, claim bankruptcy, get bailed out, change name and start again; same leadership with a small rotation. No justice for those killed, no compensation, and we all have to pay for the losses.

Udondashi: I see you're back and blaming everyone else for a Japanese company's failures again. Not only are you once again off-topic, but flat out wrong in misplacing blame. Takada's problems are Takada's fault -- no American company set out to destroy them.. unless you're implying they are not powerful enough to have any control over themselves, in which case the company should be rightly shut down.

Udondashi may have a point if we compare the handling of faulty airbags to faulty lithium-ion batteries. I've read that 139 injuries due to faulty airbags have been reported in the USA, where there are 34 million Takata airbags in use. I can't find numbers on faulty batteries, but I've read of many cases, including those causing fires on aircraft. That sounds potentially more serious, so why no similar outrage against the battery manufacturers? Many US companies rely on a constant supply of lithium-ion batteries (Apple, Dell, HP, etc.). How does that compare to US companies' reliance on Takata airbags? Tinfoil and batteries are probably not a good combination, but it makes you think.

The obvious answer, aside from the rhetorical question, is that this is a story about Takada, not a thread to bring up the unrelated issue of batteries. Where does it stop if you want to talk about deflection like that? Should we then bring in other Japanese company corruption and mislabelling scandals? Why not? If batteries can be used as somehow 'proof' that... well... I have no idea why you're defending Udondashi on that one since she is bringing it up to suggest the US has 'destroyed Takeda'... but if you can bring that up why can't others bring up corruption in other companies here as 'proof' that it is the fault of no one else but Takada? Deflection? Udondashi suggested that America was targeting Japanese or perhaps non-American countries (Bosch and Deutch Bank were mentioned). We get many articles on JT about Takata. But there seems no attempt to put the scale of the problem in perspective. Is 139 injuries out of 34 million installed devices a problem? I honestly don't know. How does that compare with injuries from failed brakes? How does it compare with side effects from vaccinations? I had an airbag replacement by recall very recently. My main worry is whether the replacement is any safer. Can they really make that number of replacement parts in such a short time?

The obama administration fined Deutch Bank in US14 billion by US Department of Justice earlier this month for mis-selling mortgage backed securities.
