Well, judging from the article, there was nothing the airlines could do ... no money = no fuel = no flight.

And, since the airline is offering budget prices, it's hard for them to change fares when oil prices fluctuate.

Happens, when you want to get it as cheap as possible.

Sorry, no sympathies.

Airlines hold all the cards unfortunately. We as consumers are always at their mercy.

Not surprising. Jetstar bases their business on weighted planning. Qantas is cutting jobs. Haven't flown an Aust airline in years.
