The situation has become both hilarious and sad at this point.
Hike interest rates to counter inflation, and crash your economy in the process? Or keep them where they are, and watch inflation soar?
No good options on the table. Either the Nikkei looks bad or the exchange rate looks bad.

LOL, as predicted yesterday, the BOJ have done a complete 180 on their rate raise rhetoric from only last week.

So the yen goes down and stocks go down too, now. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Already chickened out. A week ago they were so certain the timing was right and another couple of hikes before the end of the year would be on the table. When they tanked the stock market they started scratching their heads, damn those carry traders

I'm sure the average Japanese has tightened their belts to the point where they are now squeezing their organs. Please, try to stabilize this mess you've created BoJ. I think I would rather take a shot at not raising interest rates anymore and count on inflation to come down after an inevitable recession which could be mild or catastrophic, who knows.

It really looks like the BOJ is shooting in the dark.

As much as it will be good that "this mess" could be fixed by the BOJ and implying that the BOJ was the one that created the mess in the first place... The reality is that BOJ influence in this matter is parcial, as for the cause as well as for the fixing... this is a much bigger problem that involves all the big markets.
And each market is patching the problem as they see fit, so in the end, every country is "shooting in the dark"

Why doesn't the BOJ keep their mouths closed up and not discuss what they plan to do further or not. The Japanese have a famous motto "silence is golden," truly it is a great motto and a good time to use it.

Thanks for the input. I agree this is a problem all round and we are all blindly shooting in the dark.
