It's one big global supply shock after another in today's Covid-Ukraine world. Cost-push inflation goes higher and higher. Waiting for things to get back to normal after the twin crises subside.

Have to feel sorry for Mr Toyoda, he just can't seem to get break these days. Can't make up his mind whether to go hybrid, EVs, PHEVs, Hydrogen fuel cells or dare I say it ICE. Can't seem to get supply chain back to Japan, and can't get the Chinese supply chain working. Workers are asking for more wages and raw material costs is going through the roof.

Not to worry.

We're talking Toyota here, not Stellantis.

Good call, but to fix it, you have to lobby the Japanese government to introduce car tariffs.

China has/had a 25% tariff on cars, so every car brands moved their production to China to avoid the tariff, while they were at it, they thought they would build cars for the rest of the world there too, and Toyota like GM, VW etc. had all their eggs in the China basket. UNLIKE Tesla which had alternative factories elsewhere, Berlin, Texas, California etc.

Toyota's sales were higher in China than in Japan in 2021. What a genius plan!

This article is about a shortage of parts from China being used in cars manufactured in Japan.

Toyota had to suspend operations at some of its factories in Japan because the lockdown had made it difficult to procure parts.

Although the Shanghai lockdown was lifted on June 1, Toyota's production continues to be affected by the strain on parts supply from the Chinese city.

Everyone had known what China does when pandemic since 2020.

But Japan couldn't stop to depend on China.

During present election campaign, Japanese right-wing parties including LDP repeat instigating social anxiety as if war begins with China soon.

But Japan cannot begin the war actually.

Until EVERYONE stops production of ANYTHING necessary for ANYTHING in china, you're going to have this problem.
