Toyota Motor Corp on Tuesday launched its redesigned Crown Royal and Crown Athlete sedans.
The original Crown debuted in 1955 and has since evolved into a sedan that leads the premium car market in Japan. Toyota said the 14th-generation of the Crown revisits its roots while also living up to today's demands and expectations by providing an exquisite ride and superbly quiet performance.
The new Crown series features distinct and dynamic styling that indicates the extent of the redesign. All major components have been updated, including a new 2.5-liter hybrid system that combines high output with high fuel economy, a matured suspension, and new cutting-edge technology and devices such as the Toyota Multi-Operation Touch, which consolidates various vehicle functions into one, convenient, easy-to-operate touch panel.
Prices range from 3,530,000 yen to 5,360,000 yen.

And it comes in a bizarre, much-ridiculed shade of bright pink, too! For any Mary Kay reps out there, I guess...

Nothing wrong with pink if it sells. Such colors are the new normal.

Toyota Multi-Operation Touch, which consolidates various vehicle functions into one, convenient, easy-to-operate touch panel.
in other words, menu....select...enter....select....enter....select.....enter....
There is little easy or convenient in these touch panels, with hard to read menus, screens that are nearly invisible when hit by sunlight, small buttons that are often mishit by larger fingers, and they can be distracting to drivers while on the move. There used to be something reassuring about the instant response of a tactile switch or button....

I agree. I guess it is easy for the manufacturer who can replace an array of buttons with an electronic circuit, but I hate having to operate a car like an iphone.

I don't understand why they say the Crown is the top end Toyota Sedan, when the actual top end Toyota Sedan is the Lexus LS
