If Toyota's problems with recalls started 5 years ago, they should look at their design and design staff from 8 years ago. How do you design an accelerator pedal that get caught on the mat? To me the solution never seem right since the anecdotal evidence was the people couldn't stick it even if they reached under the pedal with their feet. Of course it seems that other mostly Japanese car manufacturers had the same problem so dd they share the same supplier for a part? Sounds more like a publicity item instead of a true quality control leap.

How will training "car fixers" prevent design errors?
