Just the calm before the EV China & Tesla Storm, and not just auto but trucking as well!

Yeah Nah, did the today article " Australia's resources minister seeks investment from S Korea, Japan " were she stated that "The push for investment comes amid a global downturn in prices for electric vehicle battery materials lithium and nickel, which have been hit by slower-than-expected electric vehicle uptake." This why Toyota are the best maker and performers because they know how to gauge the market. People are not buying EV because they done the research and realise the carbon foot print is worst then todays models of IC. Toyota recogised this years ago and still have not gone full throttle in EV production. Hence Toyota sets new global record for annual vehicle sales

EV sales are going down the drain. Everyone wants hybrids.

EV market's battery supplied chain constrained. Tesla has millions of pre orders for its Cyber Truck and Commerical Semi, BUT not enough batteries to go around!

Both Cyber Truck & Semi will produce $10B EACH in new incremental 2024 revenue, easily double again in 2025.

No surprise here. Toyota makes the best vehicles on the face of the earth - and will soon be putting them on the moon!

Not if the electrical grid is even remotely clean. In the US the breakeven point is about two years after buying an EV. After that it is all carbon savings.

Still rather have EVs even with fossil fuels for electrical generation, because pollution's limited to a small area. Renewable energy growth continues full stop globally.

So how many and which EVs do you personally own? Genuinely curious.

Taiwan: That Data only pertain to California were most of their energy come from Natural gas and Hydro. When you take into account all of the state Toyota IC car still leave EV carton foot print behind. Do you research better next time.

This just shows that consumers don't want EVs shoved down their throats and proves Mr. Toyoda was right. Meanwhile European and American car manufacturers are in crisis thanks to legislation banning the manufacturer of ICEs, something China is just taking advantage of. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Now the EU is even considering backpedaling, so called climate change be damned.

A lot of folks in here apparently aren't familiar with Toyoda's recent history with EVs. Toyota, most likely influenced by Japanese goverment policy, bizarrely put their eggs in the hydrogen fuel cell basket. That didn't pan out and now they're desperately playing catching with other automakers in the EV space. This isn't Toyota being "smart", this is Toyota making a massive strategic miscalculation. They're strong enough with ICE and hybrids, and have enough size and inertia to make things work for the short term, but make no mistake, they are lagging other automakers when it comes to being ready for post-ICE landscape.

I was not surprised by Toyota's top spot in sales. But I was surprised by the fact that their hybrids sold as many as EVs sold by Tesla and **BYD **combined!

Toyota Hybrids: 3.4 million

Tesla + BYD EVs: 1.81 + 1.57 = 3.38 million
