American automaker General Motors sold more vehicles in China in 2017 than it sold in the USA and the rest of the world, combined. Trump's trade war is not going to help the American automobile industry. If anything, it will cripple it. GM is just one example of how Trump's trade war is hurting Americans.

The American agricultural industry relies very heavily on exports. Trump is killing that industry.

American manufacturer Boeing relies very heavily on exports. Trump is hurting the American aerospace industry, but helping foreign manufacturers.

Trump seems to not understand that those American industries still in operation rely heavily on exports to stay in business. Those companies that he is supposedly protecting with his tariffs have already closed down and moved overseas, for the most part. Thus, tariffs are a lose-lose, in that they cause pain both to foreign producers and to American consumers, with no domestic industries still in existence to take advantage of reduced competition from overseas. In those cases where American industries are still in competition, such as the metal industries, a very thought out, careful application of selective tariffs, such as was done in prior Administrations, would be appropriate. The draconian trade wars started by Mr. Trump hurt everyone, outside and inside American borders, and help no one.

What unemployed, America has the lowest unemployment in many years. Thank you President Trump.

yeah give it another two years well see how all those red states farmers feel about it then. President Xi well he doesnt need reelection and bring in the military if there is any dissent. China hasnt even started to target AMerican factories in China, GM sales will take a huge hit if that happens

While the US is the largest producer of beef, the largest exporter of beef is India, followed by Brazil.

but make no mistake regardless of whether Xi gets re-elected or not that is not helping the people of China as well and the last thing China wants is unrest in that country. Hold the line!

Xi doesn't need reelection ever hes now President for life. I warrant a guess voter uprising will effect Trump long before any Chinese one, China has the option for military intervention if it come down to it and no its not a good thing but it gives Chinese government a far better survival rate than Trump. Flanking maneuver is when GM and American companies are targeted in China, growth will implode for them, while Chinese Japanese EU firms will take up the lost business, can see it already with Chinese tariffs on US pork. Europe, Australia and South America thanks you Mr Trump.

Unemployed dont like voting for the POTUS currently in the white house

The Chinese will be better off not eating the hormone- and antibiotic-laced US meat.

China is hurting as well, it won't be that long, I would say after the midterm, Trump holds on after that. the Chinese should seriously take notice this President is for real and I would assume, they would try to come to a middle road, but make no mistake regardless of whether Xi gets re-elected or not that is not helping the people of China as well and the last thing China wants is unrest in that country.

I believe he does still need reelection, he just removed the limitation on the number of terms a president can serve. well you know in a communist country with lots of corruption many of those in government it pretty easy to keep the party in line when reelection comes around, in America politics you get out of line you may or may not get reelected, in China you go prison. So my statement still stands XI political future look far more solid than Trumps.

China is not Communist.

socialist / communist, now where just knit picking,

bit like saying Trumps tan is fake but he uses all natural ingredients to make that tan. fact is Chinas ruling party has far stronger political future than Trump. If XI goes hell just be replaced with another head off the same body.

It's not socialist either.

dude getting off topic a bit the whole point of the article was to show that China has a choice on where it gets it agriculture products and they're now moving to other cheaper countries to get those products. Too many Americans seem to think China can only buy from them, reality is very different.

Chinese Company owns the Pork business in the US and it was Pork exporter to China too.

The US was a rich country when the Chinese had to rely on bicycles as a means of transport.

China’s retaliatory measures won’t impact the US

The Japanese,Taiwanese,Thais etc will benefit from lower beef prices.

China desperately need the glutinous American market for it's exports. Wait for Trump to retaliate against China with increased tariffs and we shall see who wins this trade war over unfair trade practices. In China, factories closing, unemployment.

China owns 1/4th of all pork in America with it's China owned Smithfield Hams labels.
