Good luck with the expansion plan! The challenge of where to position it in the market will be interesting. It's "chic" basics (gotta laugh at that description) falls somewhere between Old Navy and GAP. The other major challenge of sizing can be done by checking it's US flagship stores on the East and West Coasts to see how the sizes have fared although the middle of the country does tend to have a bigger "middle".

I was surprised to see the US stores just had the same sizes as Japan. They'll have to make other sizes to sell more in the States. It's not just a matter of fat, many Americans are simply taller with longer arms, legs, shoulders than Uniqlo make.

I'm a huge Uniqlo fan. The only non-Uniqlo clothes I own are those which I wear when I go shopping at Uniqlo (I have to keep at least some of my dignity).

I like Uniqlo for the most part, and loved it when I lived in Japan. But some of their clothes are really bizarre. Those weird shiny down jackets? Their obsession with HeatTech? Sometimes they try to push the envelope too much. The quality can also be a tad suspect.

I agree that they should basically be aiming to compete with GAP and Old Navy (against which they largely compare favorably).

If I were them, try to link up with a rising golf star and expand into Florida and Texas.

Please don't spread your cheap no personality drone clothes all over the world. The Gap,Abercrombie,Old Navy, and many others went down the exact same road and failed miserably. Learn from the mistakes of others and enjoy the success you already have. It definitely won't last forever.

From my experience, the sizes in the US are larger than those in Japan. I found the XL t-shirts in the US to be a little big, but I find the XXL shirts in Japan fit a little too snug. I think the sizes in the US and Europe are the same, but probably the sizes in the Asian countries run a little small by comparison.

Uniqlo is very different from GAP, Abercrombie and Old Navy. Uniqlo isn't pretencious and they don't try to be cool. Older people are very comfortable shopping there. I think this is one of the keys to their success and staying power.

im a heattech and airism fan, Uniqlo provides quality clothing especially useful for people on the go.

Uniqlo need to make bigger sizes... their LL size is a tight fit for me.... I suppose that is a reason for me to keep exercising... but no amount of workout is going to decrease my shoulder wide or reduce my hiny....

M3M3M3, I believe it's spelled "PRETENTIOUS"

Oh I'm sorry. I'm typing this out on my phone without spell check. I hope the moderator might be kind enough to amend my previous post to the correct spelling, if for no other reason than for the sake of the children who might be reading.

Ah, Uniqlo. I do love that store. I purchased my first yukata from one of their stores in Asahikawa while I was living abroad. I wonder if they'd consider not only expanding the store, but also including the option to purchase kimonos and yukatas?

i think they find the US market a lot more competetive than Japan. there are 100s of stores that sell similar cheap clothing like Uniqlo, with prices as good or better.
