The best of the best from the US! Didn't occur to anybody you were overcharged all the damn time when paying $5 for a cup of coffee? Move on...

Bottom line is, if you don't like the product, then don't buy it again. Make them realize their mistake by not buying their products and going elsewhere. That is what capitalism is all about. I stopped going to Starbucks ages ago. Can get much better and much more reasonable coffee at the convenience stores and McDonald's nowadays (just 100 yen, or 150 yen for a large size). I guess the next thing people will start doing is to start suing restaurants for serving food that doesn't quite look like how is is pictured on the menu (which pretty much happens 100% of the time at all restaurants). Sheesh!

Glad to see someone taking a stand. This is occurring all over the place. I call it hidden inflation. Japan is just as bad.

Good web site on this.

Should sue for hot drinks also since the heat expands the fluid as compared to cold.

GW- as usual, your comments are spot on! There are 2 chains in Japan my family and I NEVER go to: McDs and StBKs

I sincerely hope that the law firm that is taking on the case (for a percentage of the settlement) spends years and millions of working hours on it for NOTHING.

Because that is what they deserve

GW, stopped drinking pop 100%? We all know that it's the high fructose corn syrup that's bad, that's why they sell Mexican coke that still use sugar, at the supermarkets in the States. But stop drinking it? Nothing like a nice coke and popcorn at the movies.

What a stupid lawsuit. Ice is... a liquid. Wait a few minutes and that's what you have, a cup of liquid. Granted, coffee tastes better undiluted, but if you order Iced coffee or tea, it's inevitable that there will be some ice. Don't like it? Then don't buy it!

If I'm not mistaken, not only do the plastic cups cost more than the paper cups, but the process of making cold-brewed coffee (instead of chilling hot coffee with water/ice) requires more time and coffee beans used in the process. That means...gasp it would be more costly to produce and require a higher price to make a profit!

If she still can't deal with that, then she just needs to make her own coffee at home.

The US is too litigeous a society.....don't have to look any further than Donald Drumpf

I don't know if you can do this easily in the US, but what I normally do with things like Cola at the Mac is just to order the drink without ice (this is also an option at the self-service screens) and go back to complain when they actually did add ice or under-fill it (though this actually only happened once)

Do you mean litigious?

A Chicago woman is suing Starbucks for more than $5 million, claiming the coffee giant is underfilling its popular hand-blended iced coffee

. . . Ahh, Chi-town. (This doesn't surprise me) A place where some people are always looking for "free" stuff.

Bottom line is, if you don't like the product, then don't buy it again.

Exactly. I've going to starbucks for years for the venti ice-coffee w/add shot. Sometimes there's a little too much ice, just right or not enough. No biggy. But wow, $5M is insane!

I only go to Starbucks when my student pays.
