UANI applauds Hitachi for ending its business in Iran

United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) announced Friday that Japanese technology conglomerate Hitachi has decided to end its business in Iran. Following discussions with UANI, Hitachi informed UANI that it “has stopped all new business with Iran and is in the process of winding down contracts pre-existing our policy directive to end all new business.”

UANI said it is satisfied with Hitachi’s pledges and will make note of the company’s new Iran policy on the Iranian Business Registry (IBR).

Said UANI President, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace: "We applaud Hitachi for its responsible decision to pull out of Iran. We are satisfied with Hitachi’s pledges to wind down existing contracts there, and we thank Hitachi’s executives for their concern, time, and responsiveness. All companies — especially those involved in the Iranian oil and gas sector — should follow Hitachi’s example, and end their business in Iran.

"The international community and corporations like Hitachi are continuing to take action to economically isolate Iran’s lawless regime from the rest of the world. Iran’s rulers are seeing that their illegal pursuit of nuclear weapons, sponsorship of terrorists, and overall disregard for international law have serious financial consequences."

On Aug 4, UANI publicly called on Hitachi to end its business in Iran, given the regime’s illegal nuclear weapons program and support for terrorism. As UANI noted at the time, Hitachi maintained an active presence in Iran, having provided it with gas turbines and induction motors used in the Iranian oil and gas sector. In correspondence with the SEC, Hitachi had also openly acknowledged profiting from its business activities in Iran.

In its discussions with UANI, Hitachi stated that it has “issued a directive instructing Hitachi and all of its subsidiaries to end all further business activities with Iran.”

UANI has listed each and every foreign company which is active in Iran, from the food production companies to internet service providers, medicine manufacturers, industrial conglomerates, news agencies, transportation infrastructure providers and private consortiums, and its objective is to convince these companies to put an end to their activities in Iran. UANI is an American/Israel propoganda site against Iran. All the west will achieve is to send Iran in to the arms of the Russians. Why doesn't anyone talk about Israel and it's nuclear facilities? They don't even allow the IAEA inspections of their sites.People in the west have been brainwashed about Iran just as they were about Iraq and Libya.

No it isn't. The US and the UK are the sole proprietor of terror and evil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhxwJnPbzt4

Actions speak louder than words. The US (the good guys) as a result of its actions millions died. It used nuclear weapons, the only country to ever do so. It used chemical and biological weapons (agent orange), it installed dictators (the Shah and Saddam) and still support many dictatorships around the world. The CIA are the biggest drug smugglers and dealers, hence why the War on Drugs never ends. The whole mess in Iran right now is because of the US's and UK's actions that go back to the end of WWII. I'm an American citizen and I realize that my government has been morally bankrupt for at least the last 100 years (some will claim since inception) which gives us no right to police the world.

Well done for Hitachi! @VicMOsaka - Israel does not threat to destroy any one. Iran does. It repeatedly threat to destroy Israel. Most of the Arab Suni world are afraid of them too. Iran continually supports terror in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Israel. It committed terror attacks in Lebanon and Argentine. This is not brainwash. These are facts.

From " The New American"

Iran says that it is a signatory of the NPT and, unlike Israel, neither believes in atomic weapons nor, as a matter of religious principle, does it intend to access such weapons of mass-destruction. Furthermore, Tehran has repeatedly called for the elimination of all nuclear weapon development, production and arsenals throughout the globe.

Iran's nuclear facilities and enriched uranium remain under the supervision of IAEA inspectors, as outlined in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Safeguards Agreement.

The UN nuclear watchdog has carried out the highest number of inspections in Iran, compared to any other country throughout its history and has found nothing to indicate any diversion toward weaponization.

Do you also listen to Ahmadinejad speeches? I don't think so. For sure with every good there is bad, and yes, in free societies (as in the "Western" world, including Japan) you would always find some idiots. However all in all people are free to think and say and live the way they want. Society is based on humanity and pluralism, science and technology and yes also money. It is far from perfect BUT it is much better than living under laws of Islam as in Iran (and much of the Arab world). Those societies do not tolerate other views, thoughts, religions. There is no human right. it is all about "god's" right (or as it is viewed by some old religious clerks). Try being a woman under Islam law...

As to nuclear bombs. No country should have them. Yes, some do. It is not an excuse to let more countries have them. Especially not countries that threat to destroy others.

I guess that the IAEA must be lying.

The whole mess in Iran started when the Shiites and Sunnis separated more than a millenia ago. No one has any right to police the world. Unfortunately, somebody or somebodies have to do it. Because people are stupid.

I'll bet a bunch of Iranians involved with Hitachi's business are pissed off at Ahmadinejad and the Iranian mis-leadership.
