I had a '56 Buick with three way power seats, power windows and an automatic dynaflow transmission. What a dream car.

hmmm. So GM can sell American made cars in other countries but not the other way around.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

unemployed American losers as Donald Trump calls them.

Have to get your pot shot in at Trump eh? Please provide a link to when/where he said that. While your searching, remember this, Trump is the only candidate who is calling out the real unemployment rate at around 18 to 20%, not the 5.6% Hillary, Jeb, or the MSM tools of the establishment you love so much. Sanders is at 10.5%, which is still low.

UAW oppose any modern technology for automaking. Demanding laborers only. Japanese automakers in USA are not unionized so they train their workers for remote controlled machines that Union oppose. Thr late comer Mitsubishi went Illinois and it became first unionized Japanese brand automaker and recently it said closing and getting out of automaking business in USA. I don't think GM will create auto sales in Japan. Theirs are cars that drivers sit on left side.

Ought to sell them in Japan. And why not sell them in USA or Canada if there is consumer demand? Lots of people buy the junky Kia and other Korean imports. UAW whiners.

Huh, if anything, the unions only helped destroy GM.

"The speculation comes as Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump has seized on trade with China as a campaign issue and called for leveling a 25% tariff on Chinese imports."

What! And force Walmart and Target to raise prices 25%?!

kcjapan - once you'll educate yourself about the massive negative influence the unions had on the big three's business, your smirk will disappear.

For millions of American's the smirk is a grimace or poverty and suffering. Maybe that's your cup of tea.

Oh, I hear you. I'm not contesting that. But UAW members don't belong to this group. Their monopoly has squeezed the balls of the manufacturers, until their (and ONLY THEIR) salaries were raised up to the 70USD/hour rate... In the very same time, their quality of work has dropped, to the point of making all US manufacturers the laughing stock of the world. Yes, it's Made in China (or everywhere else) but it's a better car, at a lower price, because it's not made by UAW workers...

That's a funny idea of justice for $70 usd/hr American Union workers are the cause of GM's problems when "CEO's make more than $9,200 an hour"? (Big Three compensation isn't available after the Taxpayer bailed them out, that wouldn't be cricket.)

It's good that so many approve of China building GM's exports to America. Those Union's sure do have their pay structures upside down. The penalty for Union agitators in China is death. The US Unions should be thankful for unemployment.

There's a compromise everyone can understand.

Nice to have the Taxpayer bailout GM. That $11 Billion was well spent. "making all US manufacturers the laughing stock of the world". Those Unions, they are all a real bunch of a**holes. Hope their kids enjoy living in those MiniVans.

China knows what to do with agitators and apparently the US Taxpayer is a big help in that effort, well, the effort to help GM at leaste. Now that's something to be proud of! (Or stupid enough to believe and justify.)

Well, don't get me started on those CEO salaries either. But their impact is rather low on the business, as opposed to the union policies...(yes they're stealing the money, but steal less)...

grab some popcorn and watch Roger & Me before you start defending the outsourcing of jobs.

If their impact is so low on the business and their compensation is so high, well the obvious conclusion is eleven billion of US Taxpayer money to bailout GM's mismanagement so the Detroit-based carmaker could install a huge production base over the past decade in China is a success story for all Americans.

The corollary is if only US Taxpayers would pay GM more, more jobs and products could be made in China. Isn't that the definition of win-win-win? But, hey, who cares after your $9,000.00 and hour comes rolling in. The failure of GM is still the fault of their unemployed American losers as Donald Trump calls them.

You know they use the same calculations for these numbers as back during the Bush administration. Did you criticize Bush for having incorrect calculations? Or is it only because it's Obama?

Or is it only because it's Obama?

You have mistaken me for a supporter of party politics and politicians whether Republican or Democrat. I am not.

Quite right! The Unions caused GM's too big to failure. This argument is the taters of the 'blame the victim' nonsense corpo-rats have been spinning for a century. Yeah, that's right, the workers are to blame. There's a real piece of work.

Comment: "educate yourself about the massive negative influence the unions"

Quite right. That's why China isn't having any of that. "car sales are slowing in China, where the Detroit-based carmaker (GM) has installed a huge production base over the past decade." (article) Guess who paid for that?

U.S. taxpayers lost more than $11.2 billion as a result of the federal bailout of General Motors, according to a government report released Wednesday." TIME, Sam Frizell, April 30, 2014

When readers seek education about the Unions, remember, China doesn't allow them, US Taxpayers took an $11.2 billion dollar bath for GM and say again please?

For millions of American's the smirk is a grimace or poverty and suffering. Maybe that's your cup of tea. Another nice guy who understands why China is the American worker's friend. Well done.
