BOJ Gov Kuroda spotlights climate change as key theme to guide policy

Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda highlighted climate change on Friday as one of the key themes in guiding monetary policy, but kept his distance from the idea of the central bank buying green bonds.

Why not focus on things their policies more directly have a hand in creating: Increasing financialisation and a rentier economy and gross inequality for example.

Climate change is real and dangerous but the out of touch Kuroda should realize in the hierarchy of needs a majority of the populace is struggling to meet the basic ones of food, shelter and health.

Japan should focus on cleaner energy, specifically EVs. For the first time in a long time, people are interested in American cars (Tesla). We also build the best EVs and no one is even close.

Anyone who thinks the Germans and the Japanese will lead the auto industry 10 years from now are in for a rude awakening. If Tesla achieves what I think they'll achieve, they will damage Japan's economy so hard.

I think that this expansion of production lines in Communist China is a business model built on quicksand. The evil totalitarians running that place can dictate terms. There is no such thing as a 50-50 partnership producing in Communist China.

It's actually 100% owned by Tesla. First foreign factory that doesn't have a joint venture with a local firm.

China won't take it. They are letting Tesla train their civilians and hoping that their civilians aid their domestic firms. It's a shady business practice, but the same thing happens all the time, even here in the US.

As soon as they mention carbon tax, or green bonds or manufacture in china you know the whole argument is floored , false and the wool is being pulled over some ones eyes.

Well argued. Any foreign company that sees Communist China as a way to make short term profits is going to regret things long term.

TESLA are dreaming if they dont realize Commie China is going to steal all their tech and then start selling cars with the same specs, for half the price. They have done it in EVERY other industry. Show some leadership and intelligence, TESLA, untangle from totalitarian China.
