That it took this long to fire him is a further indication of how bad the problems are at Boeing. It is a shame that what used to be one of America's best companies is sinking into oblivion.

I'd hold off on praising Boeing over this. Yes, the CEO needed to be fired, but the guy they are replacing him with isway worse. He is a private equity guy and their only interest in companies is stripping them of their assets, which is basically what they seem to have planned. On the same day they made the decision to halt Max production, they announced they would be keeping the dividend paid out to shareholders the same, about 5 billion$ per year. Which is nuts at a company in this kind of trouble, but makes sense if it is being treated as a cash cow to suck dry rather than a company that actually makes airplanes.
