Definitely a misleading stat.
That's definitely not true for some industires.

The IT market, service market, even the hospitality market, are all taking major hits due to the very cheap workforce coming from South-East Asia. Even for 6$/H, they still prefer working on Konbinis, constructions, manufacturing, etc, therefore keeping the hourly rate very low still.

There might be opening but not all skill and people suitable for particular position. So if someone being fired from one position, need to find other job with similar position and skill requirement.
