What should Japan do to increase output and create more jobs?

IMMEDIATELY start producing ventilators, masks, sanitizers, Wuhan virus test-kits, etc by the MILLIONS and sell them to countries that have started to reject Made-In-china test kits that have been found to be faulty.

Netherlands in the latest among several countries that have rejected china-nese masks and test kits because they are found to be faulty. Spain is one of the latest victims. They bought over $460 MILLION worth of medical equipment from china and found many of them to be faulty and substandard.

I dare say the world would rather trust Made In Japan medical equipment than cheap, faulty, substandard china-nese stuff.

And THAT'S how you create more jobs for Japanese.

Japan is a major economic powerhouse, and their trade situation is essential to the world. That's why their electronic devices are top quality. And I have a pair of binoculars made in Japan that I got for Christmas in 1980 and they still work fine.

And yes this is the time for Japan to start making more medical equipment because it says Made In Japan that means that the quality is good.

japan doesn't need more jobs. Its labor shortage, the lousy wages that J- companies pay, awful working conditions, and Japan's refusal to seriously import labor means it'd be extremely difficult to mobilize the kind of effort you're talking about.

Jeff, you do have a point about the labor shortage. However, currently there are many who, thanks to the Wuhan virus, are now unemployed (eg, tourism industry, F & B staff, tour bus drivers, etc). They can be mobilized to make ( and transport) medical equipment.

But as usual in Japan, the red tape gets in the way....
