Saw this same spin at the start of the pandemic when contract workers were getting summarily let go left and right.
It is as ridiculous now as then.
When AI automation waves accelerate they will probably keep using this same bit of economic propaganda.

I think they should leave their jobs after finding a better one, not in the hope they could find one

""The total number of people with jobs fell 0.3 percent to a seasonally adjusted 67.66 million,""
So only 54% of japan is working ?? and the rest are leaching off there backs??
It can't be!! or is it??

The rationale doesn't math - if people left their jobs for better jobs, they wouldn't be considered unemployed but transitioning. That would lower the unemployment rate.

Yeah. Remember at least 30% are over 65 (retirement age), and some companies still let people go at 60. Then there is the 0-18 year old cohort (most tend to be at school until 18).
But yeah, I suppose you could say the rest are leeching.

A better job is not having to bow down to superiors every 5 minutes and not having to work a 12 hour day !
