I've kinda noticed...

As long as I've lived here (mid 90s), the LDP has been trying to tell us that inflation was good. They p!ssed away untold billions of yen in failed scheme after failed scheme (remember Premium Friday?) to try and engineer inflation. The LDP failed every time, which is what they're good at.

Now, suddenly, inflation is here, and it's terrible and must be stopped.

I never thought having to pay more for things in a society which has stagnated wages for 30 years was a good thing, but I was open to discussion.

Now it seems I've been right all along. Vote Grebe in the next election. I'll sort it out for you.

It's not just Japan, 'CPI' is an incredibly manipulated statistic that has all sorts of tricks built into it to get a lower number.

Biggest rise. Yet.

I am NOT an economist, never wanted to be one and with the mind set I got probably can't , but I do know damn well how to survive.

When the going gets tough the tough closes his wallet. I buy only what I necessarily need and nothing more, I sit tide and don't make any stupid moves that may sink my boat.

That's what every Survivalist does, and until salaries increase nothing gets on my shopping list other than Food, drinks, and all the daily necessities.

No New phone. games, cloths, shoes, accessories, gadgets, No outing and dinning, and surly no partying.

Inflation is not good. It is a silent tax.

They are up alright, but for all the wrong reasons. I want to see all those companies quarterly profit figures, just to see how much they are screwing us for to feed their shareholders....

@Paul agreed..It's pure greed a cash grab!!

In micro economics they said when the demand is high the price goes down but when the demands are low the price goes high. But in this is not the case with food.

Isnt that the other way around?

Ran away with easy votes and fightin good with the greed.

Premium Friday. .. what a ride!

But Looters dont just piss it away now, make sure it trickles down a pinstripe pantleg or 2 into one tiny beerkeg of stash and cash for buddies, wives and vacation homes! By the time you hear about it, it's like… it's gone!

Maybe one day, we're gonna hear the press ask real questions like, "Hey sugerman? where'd all the Loot go?"

All numbers are. Not only CPi. It's just one way we are manipulated. Only probldm is people now getting the truth from from conspir...err alternative news sites.

Every country manipulates the stats. That new computer or phone went up 5,000 - 10,000 yen, but the government doesn’t that that as inflation because they have more “features.”

The game is rigged, the dice are loaded. The house always wins.

Business strategy is the same everywhere, forces against the consumer and probably with thr governments help too. Paul nailed it in his comment.

Japan self sufficiency for food is below 40%.

There is nothing that can be done as long as the country will rely more on import than export.

But many local products also saw a sharp increase. Transportation costs have been up, and other costs

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Correct

relies more on import than domestic products

Demand in Japan will only shrinks further with depreciating Yen while the population is decreasing and getting age.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Are you sure it wasn’t seven and a quarter, or seven and three quarter years?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

A small amount of domestic inflation is good for the economy as it forces people to continuously spend their money rather than save - something ingrained in the psyches of many ancient Asian cultures but does not inherently make sense in a fiat currency world.

The problem with the current tranche of inflation is that its all related to problems overseas (though some of the problems in the West can be blamed on western governments, such as energy and lack of energy infrastructure) and has nothing to do with domestic inflation.

Nobody believes a figure of just 2.4%. Is this lie given out by the J government just so workers don't agitate for large pay rises? Inflation in Japan must be at least 12%, we all know it. And how about shrinkflation? everything is getting smaller/less volume etc. Doesn't appear in even the government's fake inflation figures.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

fabricated numbers, just to to your shope where you buy grocery every week and compare prices now and say one year ago.3% is just pure/you know what/...

-2 ( +9 / -11 )

inflation exceeded the Bank of Japan's 2 percent target for the fourth straight month

Oh wow. How surprising, an establishment so significant BOJ, they could totally not set proper target, even tho inflation is surging across the world.

This is not good. They are using the Pandemic and the Ukraine war to cause inflation and once the food prices goes up good luck on bringing them down. Very sad this is happening. Food is essential to live while electronic devices are unless they are for medical use. I think we may see people spending more on food and less on luxury items such as clothes and electronics. In micro economics they said when the demand is high the price goes down but when the demands are low the price goes high. But in this is not the case with food.

I can see the mad exodus to the country side where everyone will go into farming! Time to get that land now!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Shop around, vary your diet. It's not rocket science

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I agree with Larr Flint.

Even if minimum wage would be 1000 yen, 2.4% inflation is roughly 24 yen. So the price of products went up by 24 yen.

The Japanese government recently hiked minimum wage by 30 yen so people still have 6 yen left!
