After a year of natural disasters, and hundred of deaths, the japanese government is once again wasting billions on military equipment it doesn't need.

I almost wish I could opt out of paying taxes at this point.

Japan needs its weapons. Recall that there are three countries wishing to settle the score with Japan next door.

That's $3 billion that should have been spent on new ships and missiles and building out Japans native defense industry.

Fighting blind doesn't win you the war. A balanced warfighter has good sights, good hearing, good communication, good weapons, and most importantly good food.

E-2D serves as the eyes of the JASDF. Without them JASDF would be fighting near-sighted and that would be the recipe for disaster.

It would be better if the US sold E-3B aircraft to Japan.
