More Trump incompetence.
There are lots of auto parts that go into building vehicles that are only created outside the USA.
Guess I need to do the major service ASAP I've been putting off. That should outlast Trump's time in office. Just 1394 days left.

Another day, another dumpster fire for America created by Russian asset Donald Trump.

And all those auto workers that decided to vote for the Moton from Mar-A-Lago are getting with they voted for...
A pink slip...

Shares in Tesla, which is expected to suffer less from tariffs than its competitors because it makes all the cars that it sells in California and Texas, rose about 0.4 percent. Trump said that Elon Musk, Tesla’s chief executive who has taken a leading role in the White House, had not influenced his decision to impose tariffs.
Sure thing.

Throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Isn't it fascinating how absolutely every professional and expert across all industries agree that these tarrifs are a horrible idea? An yet the Trump otakus will still try to argue that they are a good thing? That they are even... "tax cuts for the Americans"?

Stupid Trump's tariff wars will ruin the country..

Insurance premiums to rise because replacement parts , needed after a crash, will be more expensive.
Multi faceted SNAFU by Trump, who "loves tariffs "....but cant see down the line problems emerging.
Higher US inflation , insurance part of the calculation "basket ", may lead to higher interest rates , putting pressure of borrowers seeking to buy new cars.
Lower demand for new cars because of price pressure in interest rates.

It's rare to see a political leader boasting about how much extra tax he is going to collect from his electorate.
The price rises are going to be high for Americans. Foreign models may vanish from the market, but locally built will also cost more. So will parts, insurance costs and second hand.
America's petrolheads are generally pro-Trump, but this is going to hit them where it hurts.

Trump's dim superannuated mind is toast. All his nutty notions are whispered into his ear by self-interested consiglieri. No matter, since he's only interested in his own fat bottom-line. The tariffs will surely soon turn out to be the egg all over his orange face.

I'm just sitting and watching with a box of popcorn on my lap.

Make the parts in the US and give jobs back to American workers-not hard to understand…

The price of cars assembled in USA with increase by 25% for each foreign part imported.
Hence, the price of cars can be even 100% or more.

5 million workers are employed in the car manufacturing industry. The once great US manufacturing industry was destroyed by American capitalists not workers taking their production overseas to cheaper countries like China. Those capitalists were not patriots of the US.
Manufacturing is down to 10% and relies on billions of imports to survive. It will take Trump years to just double or triple that 10% figure.

The headline says it all
"U.S. auto industry stunned by tariffs meant to save it"
Nothing to do with liberals or those opposed to fossil fuels.

So what did the Democrat government supporting party do? How is Detroit these days?
That is ok, you have to start from somewhere, and it is better now than never.
bass4funk
Yes, but we need context to know where all this started, so if you want to jump all over Trump as you usually love to do, back up and let us look as to why he even started hinting at this 40 years ago
wallace
The destruction of the American manufacturing industry lies strictly at the feet of the American capitalists who destroyed it. Look at what is now called the Rust Belt.
bass4funk
And the Democrat party has done nothing to help revive it or to help save it, and they plunged the industry further into depth by selling 8% of cars that no one wants

Good thing he has years then. Plus he always over delivers.

Donald Trump time and again, week in week out, rally after rally, from one podium to another, his US election manifesto, every pledge, every promise from day one.
It is the speed of delivery that I find stunning.
The US electorate knew fully, that Trump 2.0 was going to bring unprecedented political economic change.
5th November at the ballot box the people voted decisively.
Immigration, the complete dismantling of Fed government waste bureaucracy, education, policies that would snuff out toxic gender identity politics.
Nothing was hidden.
Trump clearly meant it.

Single digit months - if he's lucky....
He sure built that "wall" he promised eight years ago...
Wasn't that another one of his "I'll have it done in 24s hours" promises? That he FAILED on?
I guess we took him "too literally"....
ROFL...

Trump has increased the taxes paid by Americans which will cause inflation to also increase.
bass4funk
For a time, as he said it would.
Yup, thank you, Boeing

About one-third of voters are undecided people who can vote one way or the other.

What a stupid man Trump is, as are all the Americans who voted him in so that he could raise tax revenues all at their own expense.
Trump firing American workers = Check
Trump charging Americans more for goods = Check
Trump alienating allies around the world = Check
Trump selling out Ukraine and Europe = Check
Trump an even worse president in his second term = Check
Outlook for America and its citizens = Bleak at best, complete disaster at worst.
But fear not, for Trump aims to take the whole world down with him. Trump making the world great again...without mankind in it.
bass4funk
Yes, we know this
Bleak-short time
Oh, dear lord.. lol

The thought that a liberal democrat progressive socialism exists, out of a crazy sixth form lecture hall debate is bonkers delusion.

Globalization was a bad idea in the first place. We cant have it both ways then go claiming how capitalist is bad.
