This is how an elected government can implement climate change mediation without becoming unpopular. A ban on car use or restricted sales would lead to court cases and angry voters. Suppressing the supply chain with sanctions or other restrictions has the same effect but deflects blame. There is a fair bit of this going on in multiple sectors. It's working quite well. When did you last take a foreign holiday?

So a Tesla isn't a real car? What specifically defines a fake care from a "real" one? Or more specifically, what is the requirement to define a "real" car that Tesla's do not meet?

I rode in one recently for the first time. It did all the things I expect out of the thing we've defined as a "car", and it didn't happen in a video game or anything, but rather was a real substance with form. So I'm not clear on why this thing that I thought was real, and thought was a car, isn't actually a real car.

Went to the Subaru dealer in Tulsa and they had one new car. They wanted to buy my Subaru. There is a shortage of new cars in the USA.

Tesla! Tesla saw car sales increase to all time highs in the third quarter of 2021. Telsa delivered 241,300 cars in Q3 an increase of over 100, 000 cars compared to last year's Q3. That's a 70% increase from Q3 2020 deliveries of 139, 300. Tesla is an American Electric Vehicle company. Tesla. Ask Japanese people and they have no idea because the media doesn't want any competition for Toyota. Tesla is on course for 900,000+ car deliveries/sales this year! Tesla is growing despite the chip shortage! Tesla.

Trumped banned the sale of chips to China. This disallowed the export of chips and created a disincentive in the US to produce as they cannot sell to their biggest client.

China also boosted its own production of chips, and it began hoarding them, in case the U.S. action intensified. The U.S. semiconductor industry says the Trump actions cost U.S. firms millions in sales.

Went to the Subaru dealer in Tulsa and they had one new car. They wanted to buy my Subaru. There is a shortage of new cars in the USA. The Chev dealer was down to a car as well.

Biden is working to relocate manufacturing to the US, including chips. This could be a perfect storm.

Many of the manufacturers are citing a chip shortage for declining units produced. But other sources such as The AP cites other shortages such as wiring harnesses, plastics, and glass as contributing to the slowdowns. "Normal" looks to be at least a year away, according to many industry analysts.
