If countries are worried about climate change they shouldn't buy or use fossil fuels.

We're definitely working towards that end.
You don't think this change could be like, made overnight or something? Like, the world suddenly turns off fossil fuels one day and the next day society wouldn't collapse? That would just be silly. I'm not sure about you, but while I have a lot of problems with current day society, it's a utopia in comparison with the anarchy that would follow if we just stopped using fossil fuels tomorrow. But that's just me. Just sayin'.

If governments had the will (they do not) then there would be less pollution in the world.
Misinformation and deception are rife!
We were once told that Diesel engines were better than petrol!
Just one of the big lies......

Faulty logic. Many governments do have the will, hence things like the Paris Climate Accord. However, it's entirely ridiculous to think we could just change overnight, and not have society collapse. That's the thing when you have 7+ billion people living in a closed ecosystem, changes have to be made somewhat gently, so as not to end up killing millions from the results of said actions.

Plus this from December 10th
https://newatlas.com/largest-continuous-oil-gas-us/57579/
"US Department of the Interior has announced the discovery of the largest continuous oil and gas field ever found. Situated in the Wolfcamp Shale and overlying Bone Spring Formation in Texas and the Permian Basin in New Mexico, the new resource is estimated to contain 46.3 billion barrels of oil, 281 trillion cu ft of natural gas, and 20 billion barrels of natural gas liquids worth trillions of dollars."
Certainly the U.S will never have to worry about oil or gas supply problems ever again, although just because its there doesn't mean its economical to access it.
Plus the whole push towards non-fossil fuels is impossible to stop now and rightly so.

If the U.S was smart, they would use their new energy export status to do what Norway did a longgg time ago and that's use it to build a sovereign wealth fund, but of course the Norwegians had the advantage of tapping that oil with a partly state owned company under government direction.
Unfortunately the U.S doesn't have that option...
That's why a mixed market economy (ie Norway, Australia and many others) is , greater than, U.S conservative style "private enterprise is always the only valid option" type thinking.

US has overtaken Russia as the #1 oil producer in the world, with Saudi Arabia #3
Ironically, Trump's wanting to make oil prices cheaper would make oil production not profitable in the US and would lead to shutting down some production and laying off some labor hours

The Paris Climate Accord is a big con Western Countries are expected to pay the price while countries like China and India who are two the worlds biggest polluters are allowed to basically do what they like.
Donald Trump was right in walking away from Paris other Western leaders have sold their Countries out its the reason why the French are rioting.
