It’s amazing what trillions of dollars in deficit spending can do. Now if America can just keep this up in perpetuity everything will be just fine.

The Biden Boom.

Now if America can just keep this up in perpetuity everything will be just fine.

A global pandemic certainly warrants stepped up fiscal spending. The US can't run out of US dollars since it is the monopoly issuer. The only constraint would be inflation, and that ain't on the horizon. So, yeah, keep it up at least til full employment is achieved.

We never heard any complaints from a certain couple of well known posters here when the last President was busy cutting taxes and running up the deficit even as the nation had full employment, almost zero inflation and reasonable GPD growth. Six or seven years ago would have been the perfect time to raise taxes judiciously and pay down some of the debt accumulated during the Great Recession.

Much of the developed world with a couple of exceptions like Turkey are facing deflationary pressures. That seems to be the long term trend as the velocity of money continues its nearly two decade long decline and wealth continues to concentrate in fewer hands.
