Does anyone trust any news programming to do any stories that could possibly injure the economic interests of advertisers who purchase slots during the news?

In the end, seems to me that Musk doesnt care one way or the other if the company continues or not.

"What this advertising boycott is going to do is kill the company," Musk said.

"Everybody will know" that advertisers were those responsible, he angrily added.

Plutocrat don't like when "free market capitalism" does not go their way and the numbers start going down.

"If somebody's gonna try to blackmail me with advertising, go F... yourself," a visibly furious Musk told an interviewer in New York in front of an audience of the U.S. business elite last week.

Musk maybe needs to back off his dosages.

I wonder if he would blow a blood vessel if his inspiration, Scottish socialist SF writer Iain Banks, was alive and took him to task like he deserves.

Remember.....

(1) Musk never wanted to buy Twitter in the first place and was forced to by the courts

(2) Musk bought Twitter so Trump could return..... but Trump never did

(3) Twitter is the size of a mouse compared to Meta, YouTube, and Ticktock

Elon "Pass the Buck" Musk

I was never a big Twitter user but ever since Musk took over and eased public censorship towards conservative views, Twitter became a balanced platform for public opinion. I could actually see productive debates from both left and right perspectives. So even if it shuts down, it's currently the best platform to use.

In the end, seems to me that Musk doesnt care one way or the other if the company continues or not.

Looking at his latest tweets and the passive-aggressive attitude on them it seems as if he already gave up trying to save the company and switched gears into making himself the victim, so when the inevitable collapse happens he will have the excuse of the big companies teaming up to censor him as the cause, not him making lousy decisions.

Twitter became a balanced platform for public opinion.

Reports full of evidence clearly contradict this, what increased was not political opinions but harassment, discrimination and verbal violence.

I use it everyday and I've never seen any harrassment or discrimination, let alone verbal violence. Oh wait, I have seen people insult each other's countries. But that's part of the game. When have you gone to a sports game and not heard fans insult each other? Freedom of speech ftw.

Then publish your data well characterized and discuss how important it is compared with the reports that clearly indicate the contrary, hearsay is not an argument that can refute reports with open data and methodologies that prove something is happening. Else anyone saying the opposite of you is enough to refute your claim.

With outburst, Musk puts X's survival in the balance

The anti-free speech hordes have been saying this from the beginning since Musk took over the disinformation/misinformation platform formerly known as twitter.

They are just mad that he has exposed them and they have nothing but venom to spew since that is what one does when one is exposed.

Some advertisers try selling apps and games that aren't even close to reality but here we have Elon's Community Notes to debunk and roast all these scammers for everyone to see.

Can you imagine watching a TV ad and the minute it ends the host comes back to warn the public the product doesnt deliver what it promises.

The anti-free speech hordes have been saying this from the beginning since Musk took over the disinformation/misinformation platform formerly known as twitter.

The only one that has been proved to be anti free speech is Musk when he sued a company simply for describing something that happened in his platform. What other way to describe this but trying to silence someone for saying something Musk do not want to be known?

Elon bought Twitter because he values free speech. If he were to cave in to advertiser's demands, what would be the point?

Elon bought Twitter because he values free speech

His lawsuit to silence people demonstrating thing happening in his platform is not congruent with valuing free speech, if anything he would be doing the opposite. Someone whose priority was free speech would be encouraging those criticizing his company, not suing them.

Lol no he doesn't. Try to criticize Musk or his companies on Twitter and let me know how that goes. Also, he's censored Twitter accounts at the request of countries such as Turkey and India.

So sad. He should stick to engineering as he cannot read the air so to speak.

Sounds more like he bought it as a business if he’s prepared to let it go bankrupt.

Hard to estimate how much it’s losing and how much money he could already be spending on life support.

I hope it doesn’t go to the wall. There is a lot more trash on it these days but I tend to avoid that and follow comedy accounts.

Elon bought Twitter because he values free speech

That's just opinion.

But the (legal) fact is he was forced to buy Twitter by the courts. You cannot argue against a fact. The courts ordered Elon to buy Twitter for 44 big ones.

Yes. I think what some mean by Musk championing free speech is allowing the kind of free speech they personally agree with.

Maybe it’s worth remembering that Twitter wasn’t a great business when he bought it.

He certainly hasn’t improved things from a business point of view. I get the feeling the books wouldn’t make encouraging reading.

Musk is more concerned about pleasing China's rulers, he is giving up on the US. and the west. Musk does not respect democracies which might have a few laws and regulations that might slow his aim of acquiring even greater wealth and more control over people. He's got the anti-democracy, extreme right hordes on his side, chanting 'free speech', while at the same time banning books, especially those that might question the history of white people .

In some ways, Mr. Musk is a real genius, but in some ways he still acts like a little boy. What he has done with Tesla solar, Tesla cars, and Space X is revolutionary. I still remember reading opinions from the Big 3 automakers that Musk didn't have a snowball's chance of succeeding in the EV market. It turns out that it is the Big 3 who do not know how to succeed in the EV field.

We have Tesla solar panels on our roof. They were the cheapest among the quotes, and we are very happy with them. Nothing wrong with paying less than eight thousand dollars (after tax credits) for a solar system that basically brings our electric bill down to zero.

From our front yard we watched as Space X launched from Vandenberg AFB (or space base, whatever), and then successfully landed the first stage for reuse. NASA has been talking about reusing the first stage rockets for over 50 years, even back when I was helping to launch the rockets, but only Musk has succeeded.

Musk made his Starlink system available to Ukraine, free of charge, and singlehandedly provided the means to prevent Putin from rolling into that country. He doesn't get enough credit for saving Ukraine.

So, what he got himself into with this Twitter mess is embarrassing, but no one is perfect.

I wish he would get out of Twitter, and dedicate himself to more technological projects that help mankind. My personal favorite would be to see Enhanced Geothermal rolled out world wide. It would solve our green energy needs. If Musk tackled this problem like he did some of the other problems mentioned, it would be fantastic.

In some ways, Mr. Musk is a real genius, but in some ways he still acts like a little boy.

According to some supposedly leaked information the huge difference in how the companies have fared is due to Tesla and Space X having strong isolating mechanisms to keep Musk from taking too much control of the details the daily work, with high and middle level people creatively interpreting instructions from him in the most productive way. Twitter did not have this internal culture prepared so supposedly every single instruction was strictly obeyed no matter how much of a bad idea it was, and chaos ensued.

Of course nobody can say this information is reliable, but it makes sense seeing how much differently twitter developed after being bought.

if xitter dies, the only one to blame is the megalomaniac musk. he did a "kanye west" on jewish people, and thought that since he is god almighty, he would not be held accountable.
