There is a reason that companies conduct due diligence, esp. when evidence of financial irregularities have been reported.

Not to say it doesn't happen elsewhere, but it seems like "accounting irregularities" are a pretty common occurrence in major Japanese corporations.

As for the activist shareholder charge, this is how the board is supposed to work. If the shareholders don't like the board, they can turf them. The mechanisms were always there
