Police in Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture, said Thursday that 97 faucets were stolen from four schools early Wednesday morning.

According to TV Asahi, police were notified after school officials discovered the theft at around 6 a.m. Wednesday. In one case, 21 faucets attached to a long sink at the playgrounds were stolen. The schools were all within three kilometers of each other.

A brand new faucet costs about 3,000 yen. According to police, there is a high possibility that the faucets were stolen to be resold.

Police said they are studying security camera footage to try and identify the thieves.

If you're having fixture problems, I feel bad for you son. I've got 97 faucets, but a Pfister ain't one.

I've never understood the posters who are incredulous every time crime in Saitama is mentioned. Do they somehow expect a prefecture with 8 million people to be crime-free for some reason?

Yep and I bet Saitama is still safer than the safest city in their own country.

I hope the thief/thieves are caught and slapped upside the head with one of these faucets.

Saitama... if it's not murders and attacks it's people nicking taps.
