Police are investigating the discovery of 11 cat carcasses found buried in a park in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, earlier this week.
According to police, a park maintenance worker noticed the back part of a cat's body sticking out of the ground at around 3 p.m. on Nov 7 in Matsugae park in the city's Minami Ward, Fuji TV reported. An additional five cat carcasses were discovered buried at a depth of 30 cm. Police said another five carcasses were found buried at the root of two trees near the initial discovery site.
On Nov 2, another cat's body was found in the same park. Police are examining nearby street surveillance camera footage to try and identify who brought the cats' remains to the park. Police said the person or persons responsible face charges for possible violation of the Cruelty to Animals Act.

Cats are people, too.

Japan has meanwhile applied to UNESCO for Matsugae park to be designated a "place of cultural significance". Apparently this is where Kitty Chan is buried.

Future Serial Killer potential. Hope they catch the creep. Sagamihara has gotten a lot of bad publicity this year.

Sagami hará; the SAME place they found the LAST Aum Freak a few years ago, when I was living RIGHT next door at Zama Station.

You wouldn't want to know that someone is killing animals in your area?

What's up with Sagamihara? It seems like there has been a rash of psychotic events out there.

Meanwhile.............. Rome is still burning while Abe fiddles!

Sounds creepy. I could imagine that the criminal(s) may have derived entertainment from torturing and killing those cats. An unforgivable crime!

Yes it sounds very creepy. Here in Osaka I came across to see two dead cats floating in the river within a week.

So get on it police. Who would kill that many cats, first of all. And then WHY would they bury them. And HOW did they bury them. And I suppose finding out HOW they were killed would provide a lot of clues.
Just for instance, I don't think they were buried to be hidden. They were buried to be found.
I don't know if anyone cares, and they might not, but I would think that putting a group of young and otherwise unoccupied animal lovers with some skills to work on this investigation would be a great way to teach investigative skills. Even if they did not find the woman who did it, it would yield benefits.
