A nut punching an 11 year old boy in the face is news. Would you prefer something even worse? I wouldn't.

Will be unemployed and a loner for sure...

This country needs to start tackling mental illness seriously.

The fact that this story of a man knocking a boy off his bike actually makes the news is in some ways rather comforting.

Violence has never accomplished anything. Every citizen should be able to walk (or bike) down any street in any city without fearing that a demented or malicious criminal will step out to rob, beat or kill him or her.

Will be unemployed and a loner for sure...

Why?

Sick copycat of Knockout game? Better find this guy and nip it in the bud fast, and bust him.

Were there any witnesses? It wouldn't be the first time a kid has made up a story to get attention.

I'm with Harry. Any witnesses? Could've been an accident. Could've been a nutter. Could've been a kid making excuses for torn jeans and a black eye.

Thankfully. If only all days were slow news days.

A punch, huh? Knowing the way Tokyo bicyclists behave, I would throw a wild one out there and say that this kid probably rode his little steel horse like all the other idiots in bikes. Probably got tackled when he looked some other way...

Just sick! If they catch him then they have to put his face on the nightly news.

Maybe someone got fed up with rude, dangerous bicyclists. But, punching a kid is not the way.

BBQ , I totally agree, I would even assume the kid had it coming otherwise the passerby would have been hit

2 women injured by a tree. Boy knocked off bike: Is this NATIONAL news? Barely even worthy of a local community newspaper surely?!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Surprised an 11 year old was able to judge someones height, while falling off a bike nonetheless! I don't necessarily think this was done by an out of work guy or aspiring serial killer for that matter. Sounds more like a stress thing

Of the first 20 comments, over half are flat-out positive the man was a nutter, etc. But the truth is, none of you have the slightest clue what actually happened.

One afternoon about 25 years ago, I was walking down a street in Okinawa City as crowds of high schoolers were surging out of a school yard when I happened to notice one student shove a smaller boy who was pushing a bike through the school gate to the ground, kick him and then jump on the bike and speed away.

The bike snatcher was looking back to taunt his victim just as he passed me. All it took was a small shove from me to redirect the bicycle, which was moving a a good clip, right into a fence where the rider face-planted on the chain links before falling to the ground tangled in the bike.

I just kept on walking but now with a muted grin on my face. I suppose I could have been arrested but I like to think that a little instant karma is just what the bully needed.

Sure, the kid in this case swears "I didn't do nuttin', honest" but people are rarely attacked for no reason at all. Until ya'all know what actually happened, you need to lighten up.
