110 windows smashed at elementary school in Chiba

Some 110 windows were found smashed at a public elementary school in Ichihara City early Tuesday morning, after police received a call from a nearby resident who said he could see two people smashing windows and entering the school.

Police received the call at about 1.30 a.m. and rushed to Higashi Tatsumidai Elementary School, but no one was found on the property. About 110 windows, mostly on the first floor, were found smashed. Police said the suspects used flowerpots and a wooden beam to break them.

Police said the school had left their front gate open at night and anyone could enter. They also said that nearby Tatsumidai Junior High School has had similar incidents on four occasions this year, the most recent being on Dec 19 when 152 windows were smashed.

So worrying to see this happening in Japan. It is rife in New Zealand (especially arson). Strong need to catch these sad idiots and make a massive example out of them to prevent more of it

Gate open or closed, anybody could get onto school property. The gates are only good for show. Look for local teens who have no (or poor) adult supervision.

Which ever teacher left the gate open is in trouble now

In regards to New Years, perhaps they meant to smash exactly 108 windows.

Oh please, how hard is it really to jump the wall? Its only for show, and to stop law abiding people, not teens bent on bad behavior.
