The bodies of a 15-year-old girl and her 21-year-old boyfriend have been found in an apartment in Osaka, in what police believe was a murder-suicide.

According to police, the girl and boyfriend, who is Vietnamese, lived with her parents in Nishinari Ward. Fuji TV reported that the girl's mother found the bodies when she returned home at around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. The girl was lying on a bed in her bedroom, with two knives protruding from her chest, while her boyfriend was found on the floor near her, with a belt wound tightly around his neck, after he apparently hanged himself.

The two were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Police said the man had moved in with his girlfriend's family about a year ago. Her mother said the couple had argued vehemently two days ago.

why is it necessary to mention that the man was vietnamese. it seems to have no beearing at all on this story.

that being said, i would never let a 20-year-old man move in with my 14-year-old daughter.

Precisely. It was done the other day, too, with the poor little girl that was found dead in the drainage ditch. It seems a way of distancing.

In any case, horrible stuff. There's a reason Nishinari is called the crime capital of Osaka. Terrible place.

Damn it! Why this kind of thing happens in Japan;frequent murders,suicides,violent/suspicious deaths etc-is still beyond me

But, Japan is a safe country, until you go home, of course.

The sentence isn't clear as to who is Vietnamese ...

^ surely, if it meant both of them, the sentence would read; "According to police, the girl and boyfriend, who are Vietnamese....."

Nishinari Ward has a small slum area much the same as all areas of Japan , the slum area is remarkably clean and attracts bargain tourists hunters but it is not the slum area where the murder happened nor is it a crime ridden area.

I advice my people to live easy and learn to develop the spirit of contentment in that Japan is one of the best places to leave on earth and appreciate what ever seemingly small properties they may own and not to put too much pressure on themselves to me over expectations is one the roots course of the many courses of the many suicides in Japan.also I think its about time Japanese parents are allowed to have more power to discipline their wards when they feel like the children are on the wrong path.

Mentally ill and Vietnamese is much harsher than saying he is Vietnamese. Overly sensitive about origin is an American problem anyway so keep us informed JT. Culture does separate behaviors and traits so the mention shouldn't be a problem.

Oh give it up. There is zero need to mention nationality in this article. More so when we live in a country where murder/suicide appears on here about once a week by locals.

As for a 14 year old dating a 20 year old and parents letting him move in... There are clearly family issues there. Nishinari or not, issues that someone, somewhere should have stepped in and dealt with - be it neighbours, family members, city workers, teachers.... The young woman was let down by those who should have helped her.

Perhaps the parents were afraid of him?

I find every aspect of this story completely disgusting.

According to other Japanese newspapers, the Vietnamese man also had a stab wound in his chest (which was probably self-inflicted.)

As far as the "racial-profiling" aspect of the reporting, I personally have no problem with it. It's called news reporting. Simply stating a fact as it is gathered, unskewed, unfiltered. It's news media's job to get as much raw information as possible out to the public. You can slice it and dice it and twist it however much you like, but that's NOT the media's job. I've seen very similar news reporting here in New York all the time.

I found nothing wrong with this article, yes it is a bit vague in a few aspects but I am assuming the reason for this is that it is merely reporting the incident with the information currently available to the media. Personally I prefer to know if other non Japanese were involved also. You may consider it to be racial profiling but it is just another fact of the case and the pertinence could be considered relevant if a minor ethnic group is over represented in crime statistics.

Huh? Where did that come from? Origin, age, place of work, or occupation, are almost always given out as information in serious crimes HERE in Japan. It's common practice and not limited to foreigners either.

Terrible story. But not sure why people would be upset that the nationality of a person is disclosed. It's called providing information, something the news does. What's next, not providing gender and age?

Do calm down. It's normal news information just like any other article - name, age, area where it occurred etc.

WTF were the parents thinking? If a college-aged guy was chasing my JHS daughter, I sure as hell wouldn't sanction the relationship, and if he asked to move in, I'd have to implant a baseball bat somewhere in his person. Now what? The crazy pedophile killed your daughter.

something is off... 15year old girl, and 21 year old bf moves in with her ? From abroad? That family has some other issues me thinks...

"That family has some other issues me thinks..."

Yeah. I would say that a double suicide is a pretty good indicator that someone has not been practicing good judgment. Although I would have trouble classifying the deaths as a symptom rather than the disease. It is also a pretty good bet that this whole thing is "over."

Wow, Vietnamese girl killed, Vietnamese guy died in Detention center and now these 2 Vietnamese people died. RIP :(

Is strange that the girl's mother allow her 15 year daughter to have relationship n living under one roof with the man ??? Don't she know her daughter is a minor under law ..

I get that. Yet, the sentence isn't entirely clear ...
