Police in Soka, Saitama Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of murder after he allegedly stabbed to death the 16-year-old boyfriend of his former girlfriend. The girl, 16, was also stabbed but her injuries are not life-threatening, Fuji TV reported.
Police said they received an emergency phone call at around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday from an apartment in Asahicho, Soka City. The caller said, “My younger sister and her boyfriend have been stabbed.”
When police arrived at the scene, a 16-year-old boy identified as Kosuke Nishiyama was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead due to loss of blood from stab wounds. Nishiyama’s girlfriend also had stab wounds and was in a serious condition on Monday. Her older sister, who called police, was not hurt.
Police arrested the suspect, who cannot be named because he is a minor, at his home in the neighboring city of Misato. They believe he attacked the couple out of jealousy.

If he is capable of this now, he will certainly do it again in the future. I think we will hear about him again.
Best wishes to the poor girl. This will be a big trauma...

Yeah it's ok to publish the name of the deceased teenager but not his assailant.
Out of respect to the dead, the same rules should apply!

"Police arrested the suspect, who cannot be named because he is a minor, at his home in the neighboring city of Misato."
Ridiculous. He knew what he was doing. Time to start using the changed laws to allow minors to be charged as adults, instead of having passed them as mere lip-service. Charge him as an adult and lock him up for life. It is ludicrous they won't even name a murderer because he's "too young".

Shocking. Many of us will have been ditched by former girlfriends/boyfriends. But where's the sense of perspective? You can't go round killing people just because they've hurt your feelings. I hope there were no contributory violent apps on his phone...
@Dis...
We can work out what age 15 is, without trying to map it on to some unspecified national school system

The reason they don't release children's name's is because they are children. This practice is common in civilized countries. It has nothing to do with protecting the public. If charged and prosecuted he will pay. To all the posters that want his name spread all over the media what if he's innocent? So leave him alone let justice work and hopefully if the suspect is guilty he gets the time and help he needs.

I think that you will find that in most advanced countries, juveniles are treated differently to adults, and not identified.
I agree that this is very frustrating at times.

Teen lover, well this part of growing up but end in tragedy. Now he'll going to face his future inside the prison.

Wow! Nothing says "I will never get a girl now because of my stabbing jealousy" like stabbing your ex and her new dude and killing him. He needs great councelling.

That makes no sense. Not naming teenage criminals doesn't make us any more safer. No doubt many young men lapped up the mass media coverage of Boy A, Akihabara massacre, Ichihashi etc.

Get the time and help he needs? Are you kidding me? That psychotic bastard needs to be put away for life, but that won't happen because he's a "child".

Michael Jackson. What if the accused isn't the murderer? Maybe he is but right now we don't know! Would you want your name all over the media for something you didn't do? Besides, he's a minor!

But I would argue that anyone over the age of 16 should be old enough to responsible for the consequences of their actions. Perhaps minor crimes such as shoplifting etc. could be wiped clean off their record, but murder is serious and should follow the perpetrator for the rest of their lives. It's bad enough that the Japanese justice system often let these people go with as little as 2 or 3 years in prison, but to be able to commit a serious crime in anonymity is completely unacceptable.

15 year old? That's 3rd grade junior high! No need to bring accent to where he is from. It's not often you read such articles of young punks killing each other in Japan, thankfully.

smithinjapan, do you know why the names of teenagers are not released? It is to protect us - the general public. Don't let the little bundles of drama and hormones think they can 'make a name for themselves', 'become famous/infamous', 'show everyone they're someone' by doing something outrageous - like shooting up a school.
Dylan Kleibold. Even I remember that name so many years later. Face ended up on all kinds of magazines. Spawned a string of copycats. that doesn't happen in many countries - because we have laws against publicising young criminals.
