Police in Shizuoka City said Friday they have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of stabbing his 51-year-old father to death at their home.

According to police, the boy stabbed his father several times in the neck with a knife at around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Fuji TV reported. The boy's mother called police to report the attack.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said the victim's wife told them she had not been aware of any trouble between her son and his father.

"Police said the victim's wife told them she had not been aware of any trouble between her son and his father." That is one stiff upper lip.

Most undesirable action on the part of a son to stab his father. This shows huge gap existing in the upbringing of the child in the family. Parents must teach proper etiquettes to the children from the early stage to avoid such mishappenings later in life.

this is a deep problem that will take years for psychotherapists to analyse. probably nobody will care and the boy is just garbage now.

Pressed to offer a comment about an incident like this, the locals invariably respond by shrugging their shoulders and intoning that it can't be helped, even when it can. Judgement is never passed, individual responsibility is never singled out. Almost entirely absent is any sense of wanting to get to the bottom of it, of wanting to know what is it about Japanese society that predisposes certain Japanese to avail themselves of such methods against their ostensible loved ones. World weary resignation is the order of the day, along with an ostrich with it's head in the sand like reluctance to question ossified thinking and countenance any kind of tampering with a social order founded on a cruelly abstract greater good utilitarianism and an 'I'm alright Jack' standoffishness that prevents the formation of social censure that might help to discourage fratricidal madness.

This seems a very personal and close crime. It's safe to safe he had strong gruges against his pater. The mom is playing the old script "I've seen nothing and I don't remember"

@oyatoi

A son killing his father ain't "fratricidal."

And it's "an ostrich with its head...."
