can someone tell that kid there is such a thing called roll over minutes ? Don't have to use up the allotted minutes every month, you know...........LOL

wow thats crazy. 2100 calls in july- Aug?! he must have not had a Job & sat home pranking the police Everyday. you would assume that after 8 - 9 calls they would have traced the calls & caught the kid. Geez are JP Police that slow?! i wonder if they allow one "phone call" when they arrest you like in the states. Geez they should make a JP Movie about this.

I would hate to have to be the guy that has to sift through those calls...

I'm sure the cops would LOVE to have ignored the calls. But then one call would have been a REAL call and the brainiacs here would all have a field day with the story about the cops not responding at all to a 119 call. :-/

Guys, learn to read. A large number of them were silent calls, including hundreds in a day. The bulk of them happened on specific days, rather than every day. The article is also very poorly written and factually wrong by its own account.

For prank calls, yeah. Maybe in the states it's different. The kid would have ended up beaten by "off-duty" police officers.

Let's see...2100 calls and he only had 4 cell phones. That's still a staggering 525 calls per phone!! You would think the police might think something fishy was up after the first 5! Seems like they were doing nothing and didn't mind the busy work.

Police officer A: Oh, it's that crazy guy again making another false report. Feel like going for a ride?

Police officer B: Yeah, sure. I don't have anything better to do right now.

So this is a nice way to use your 4 cell phones. He must be a lonely guy who want to utilise his cell phones someway. A costly hobby.

Must be that new "3000 Strikes and you're out" law which was passed a few years back.

He's a "child" according to Japanese law...he will get away with it.

Don't they have better systems at the station to monitor the calls -- ie. where they are coming in from? They should at the very least be able to get the phone numbers -- and if the same ones keep popping up, get an order to the phone companies to release records of whom the phones belong to. Should have been wrapped up far sooner than this.

The police station does not have caller ID on their phones? I doubt he could call from 2100 different phone numbers.

The suspect has been charged with calling Ashibetsu police station to falsely report crimes around 2,100 times between July and August. These cops must be so naive!!! You would think after about 5 or 6 false calls, the police would look into the situation to make sure the person that is calling is not just playing around. And to make that many calls in a very short time, this guy must be a weirdo all cracked up in the head.
