A 17-year-old boy turned himself in to Hiroshima police on Wednesday morning, saying that he murdered his grandparents.

The youth, currently in the second grade of high school, presented himself to a police station in the city's Asakita Ward just after midnight, TBS reported. Police said that he confessed to the murder of his 74-year-old grandfather and 73-year-old grandmother, with whom he lived.

Police went to the residence and found the couple dead of stab wounds from what appeared to be a kitchen knife. According to police, the alleged murder took place at around 10 p.m. Tuesday. Police quoted the youth as saying he got mad at his grandparents because they kept scolding him for not going to school, TBS reported.

Not the first time such a story has appeared, an adolescent who turns psychotic when challenged about his bad behaviour. What makes a teenager capable of doing this?

There are far too many "unknowns" in this article... Does he still have his parents ? Had they sent him to the grandparents because they could no longer "control" him ? Was he also a victim of bullying at school ? Could that be the reason why he refused to go ? Does he have an underlying "psychological" problem? None of which excuse his actions but if they could find out what goes on in the heads of these teenage murderers, it could help prevent further deadly aggression on family members and/or random killings. ..

Hope he doesn't mind being 'scolded' in a reformatory. Sadly it'll only be for three years. What do these morons think?? life will be better in prison?

Well, he can throw himself on the mercy of the court because he's an orphan.

I have always wondered about how a child can turn on his caretakers like this and murder in a fit of defiance and rage. I believe it starts from when a child is young and not disciplined properly. So many times I've watched little boys hitting their mothers with no reaction from the parent.

It's a senseless crime, I'm sure that 17 year old boy had enough time to think about his actions and should be tried as a adult instead of being sent to a reform school.

" vI'm sure that 17 year old boy had enough time to think about his actions and should be tried as a adult "

Fat chance. We all know how this will proceed... he is a "youth" and therefore gets away with a slap on the wrist.

Every day you read about a family member killing another! Every day!!!

Hurt people, hurt people!! So sad!!

Just wondering but this crappy kid has no parents??? Why was he living with the grandparents???????

0 ( +2 / -2 )

And... he will get a slap on the wrist for it, because he is a minor.

Does he have an underlying "psychological" problem?

@ Fighting Viking Ya think? People without psychological problems don't murder family members in cold blood.

My point being : Psychological problems are not "taken care of" in Japan, so I'm wondering if that's why maybe his parents thought the grandparents more apt to deal with the situation ? It's high time the social "taboo" is lifted from psychological sicknesses and sufferers given proper care, in which case there could be a lot less of these stories hitting the headlines practically every day...

The disease of today: mental illness! And if go untreated, thie results are devastating!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

He lived with his grandparents, because previously he killed his parents.

Yet another arrogant little bugger takes it out on the people caring for him. I hope this evil little monster lives for a long time with the memories of what he's done haunting him for the rest of his natural days.

mental illness? isn't that convenient...

more like anger management and pretty much lack of respect for society in general, prolly also knows and understands he won't be punished much for it

He'll get a slap on the wrist and go out and get a high paying job. No one will ever know who he is because in Japan the names and faces of minors who commit even the worst of crimes is never revealed. It's a "free get out of jail pass".

Two days ago, that was a grandpa killing grandkids... Generation conflict ?

CrazedinJapan - I notice the same thing a lot too. I cant believe what Im seeing sometimes - kids really going at it and trying to belt their parents - usually the mother and the mother just taking it and doing nothing. It does make you wonder what they grow up into with no discipline or sens of control.

sense

Clearly, a law banning teenage boys from wielding kitchen knives needs to be introduced.

I believe that he was not total cold hearted for he had turn himself in to the police but he could have just left his grandparents then kill them. How tragic.

He'll be back on the street in no time. He should be tried as an adult. Sad that he murdered his grandparents because they were trying to get him to improve his life.

"from what appeared to be a kitchen knife" - What, the police weren't sure it was a kitchen knife? Maybe the JT writers should have said" "from what appeared to be stab wounds from a kitchen knife" because forensics hadn't examined the bodies yet.

Grandparents were right so he should attend his school. He should be tried as an adult.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Try him as an adult. Hope he gets the rope! No mercy for someone who can kill his own grandparents. Spoiled brat.

Old people seriously need to teach these young bratty punks a lesson or two old school style because being nice doesn't seem to work.

It is a joke some posters here are even talking about reforming this nut! He can go and reform himself in the other world.

Back home if a child tried to raise thy hands on their parents or grandparents, the whole village clan will show the brat what's up.

I think it's a good idea to ship these losers to countries where this type of thing is not going down and let them try something like this on hard old folks in those countries. Police not required.

I pray to God that I have a well-behaved and down to earth kid by the time they get to their teens. I don't want to end up a newspaper statistic of a teen burning his house or strangling his parents.
