17-year-old boy arrested for stabbing male acquaintance

Police in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder after he stabbed a teenage male acquaintance with a knife.

According to the police, the boy, who is from Takizawa City, Iwate Prefecture, stabbed the victim in the thigh with a knife he was carrying at around 4 p.m. on March 18 at his (the suspect’s) apartment in Kanazawa City, TBS reported. He also punched the victim in the face.

The male suffered minor injuries, including a puncture wound on his left thigh.

Police said the stabbing was motivated by financial trouble between the two boys.
