Police in Tokyo have arrested a 17-year-old youth on suspicion of assaulting a 17-year-old high school student with a metal bat after he saw the victim talking with his girlfriend.

According to police, the incident occurred in August at a park in Kita Ward, Fuji TV reported. The suspect, an apprentice carpenter, told the unsuspecting victim to meet him there and then hit him in the head with a metal bat. The victim sustained a fractured skull.

Police said the suspect told them he got jealous after seeing the victim talking with his girlfriend at a summer festival in Arakawa Ward in June.

Batter Up .... Probably his first girlfriend & thought this was the right way to react to this situation. As the old saying goes Young - Dump & full of come . He is still considered a juvenile he'll get a verbal warning and off he goes back to his girlfriend or a new one.

If you are already like this at seventeen, then it probably won't be the last time this hothead sees the inside of a cell.

Up your game, you done lost your girl, move on. I'm sure this dude wasn't the only guy she was messing with either.

They should look into the relationship too and possibly get the girlfriend help too, could possibly be an abusive relationship

His parents can beg all they want.

He is a 17 year old carpenter, possibly drop-out. Not to judge but I doubt he has much parental in his life.

I’m guessing we’ll be reading about this kid and his girlfriend again soon. Maybe something along the lines of “Baby dies in car while parents play pachinko.”

Read elsewhere that is common knowledge the attacker is a member of a bosozoku group. They don't exactly try to keep it quiet!

Im only surprised he went solo to attack rather than with his backup.

Gotta wonder why the other guy agreed to meet in a park. Is he connected too or simply unbelievably naive?

In this type of situation, would the lad go to detention, or will his parents be allowed to just pay off the victim?

If that were my kid who got hit by him, I would not accept the payoff or even worse, "Gomen nasai." He's going to do hard time in the nick. His parents can beg all they want.

And it's a great way to endear yourself to your lady friend, by proving to her how you will act the next time she pisses you off

In June? It took this coward over theee months to build the courage to belt someone with a baseball bat? Seriously? That is assault with a deadly weapon causing grievous bodily harm. The prosecution could even push for attempted murder. Give this psycho a few years in the own to learn some humility and patience.

Welcome to the real world, kid. You're in the majors now. Enjoy baseball in the nick.
