Is it me or are stabbings on the rise?

Not just you, it’s many posters on this site, but they aren’t actually on the rise.

Is it me or are stabbings on the rise? Very worrisome.

Let this be a lesson to all of the parents out there. Keep your knives locked up in a safe. You never know when the little ones may snap. And if you think you know them, you really don't. How many parents out there of criminals out there have claimed that they never raised their kid to be that way?

And for those calling for a light sentence for the kid - are you out of your mind! This guy (according to the story) stabbed daddy multiple times. Stab him once or twice, you neutralize him and call it a crime of passion. You stab him multiple times, then this kid should not be out on the streets.

Don’t worry, it only seems that way. Reality is that there really aren’t many stabbings in Japan.

Trying to stop the fight is one thing. To bring a knife into this is wrong, unless the father was physically attacking her or other family members no excuse.

The veneer of the society is exquisitely polished - but very thin.

You don't want to scratch the surface.

Japan should reform its basic educational system and impart moral ,religious ethical teaching in schools and at home .Children should be taught from the early stage to show respect for elders, parents ,teachers and above all to have regard for human life.

Another day another family murder.

When my father was out of order, I ran away from home. Then he begged me to come home and appoligized. He used a knife to cook a nice dinner, everybody cried a bit, then we didn’t kill anybody.

Police quoted the suspect as saying he just wanted to stop the argument between his parents because he was afraid his father would attack the rest of the family.

The key word is "argument ". No where did it say the father was getting violent, only that he thought maybe he was going to get violent!

I don't know if the father had a history of violence or not, but the son could have called the cops. People fight and argue, sometimes it gets heated, that's part of a marriage. I think kids today overreact, they see on the news how one kid gets rid of the parent and then they decide they have had enough, and take the life of their parent. If the father was committing violence at the time, I can see that his actions were justified, but if he just thought that he was going to get violent, he should have just called the cops!

the family lost not only the father but also the son. hope the son receives a light sentence if it's found out that his father was violently abusive.

There is also the Keio University Faculty of Economics 20 year old who stabbed and killed his father when he asked him to stop hus belligerence in an argument between the father and his younger brother last Thursday.

Yeah, right. A violent, abusive man by all accounts. The boy was trying to protect his mother. Yet another case of family members killing each other; this sort of thing seems to happen almost every day.
