Two men have been arrested in connection with the 2016 murder of Takei Kudo, the 77-year-old owner of a demolition business, at a material storage site in Shirosato, Ibaraki Prefecture.

According to police, a 24-year-old man (who cannot be named because he was a minor at the time of the crime), living in Hitachinaka City, and Jun Uchida, 37, an unemployed resident from Mito City, were already in custody on theft charges, Sankei Shimbun reported. They were charged with robbery and the murder of Kudo on Monday.

Police said the suspects were stealing copper wires from Kudo’s material storage site and loading the metals into their vehicle between 3 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. on February 1, 2016. Kudo discovered the two committing the theft on his property and was beaten about the head and face.

In addition to binding his hands, the victim’s bloodied face had been wrapped serval times with adhesive tape. He died from suffocation. Kudo’s body was discovered by his wife at the storage site.

The suspects also managed to steal 6,000 kilograms of copper wire worth the equivalent of 1.08 million yen.

Footage from security cameras installed in the vicinity managed to show two men stealing the electrical wiring. Ibaraki prefectural police began questioning the 24-year-old suspect, who resembled one o the men in the camera footage, after he was arrested over another theft.

This is pretty ridiculous. He is not a minor anymore. If he had gone 50 years before being caught then they still wouldn't name an almost 70-year-old person?

If the police knew they were loading the copper in their vehicle because of the security cameras, why couldn't they track down the owner of the vehicle by use of the license plates, colour, make, past instances where they were surveilling the area before the robbery? This case could've been done and done with a long time ago if these steps were taken.

Feel sorry for the victim and his family. Those two low lives should receive the firing squad.

It is understood that Japan is one of the Safest Countries in the World right on line with Singapore, Taiwan and Mainland China. As a result, it is a shock that this sort of thing could ever occur in Japan. It is understood that Japan does not have ghetto areas such as Detroit, MI, Camden NJ and/or Newark, NJ which exist in many Western Countries.
