2 arrested for abusing intellectually disabled man at care home

Police said Wednesday they have arrested a man and a woman on charges of physically abusing a 28-year-old resident at a care home for people with intellectual disabilities in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture.

According to police, Akiko Matsumoto, 25, and Daiki Sato, 22, both former employees of the facility, continuously abused a male resident by kicking and punching him multiple times in April at the Bi Buraito care home, Fuji TV reported.

The man suffered major injuries and was hospitalized on April 16. Doctors said he had suffered a temporal loss of consciousness, a broken lumbar spine and had lost over one liter of blood in his stomach. Police said he is currently recovering at a local hospital and his life is in no danger.

The two have admitted to the accusations, although Matsumoto has told police that she wasn’t involved in the kicking.

Police said Sato is himself a resident of another care home for people with disabilities in Tochigi Prefecture. In April, he had been working part-time at Bi Buraito to help him readjust to society, a spokesperson for the facility operator said.

They should receive some EXTRA months in jail for their EXTRAORDINARILY cruel and disgusting violent behavior against a disabled person. In a fair world these two should be locked ina room and 2 people should be allowed to wail on them until their spines break and stomachs bleed.

Clearly they enjoyed beating this person.

Wow... That ranks pretty high on the a-holery scale...

Huh... Epic fail ?

Throw them to the ground and punch, kick and stomp on THEM.  See how they like it.

The man suffered a broken spine.  The article doesn't say, but doesn't that normally mean at least partial paralysis?  Regardless, this is horrible.  I hope they see some serious jail time so they can have adequate time to think about their lives.

But.........

Matsumoto has told police that she wasn’t involved in the kicking.
