How is it unlawful to smuggle gold ?

Is it because of 10 000$ asset limit on you ?

Just asking because laws are local and need to be explained to understand.

A tip-off ? How is that possible outside being spied in Malaysia, lol

At current market price, that's about 15 kilograms. If they had that stuffed in their pants, they'd be walking funny.

Four people from europeans countries caught by Bangladesh police for copying credit card and smuggle good amount of money from ATM booth.

Same as some african countries people doing the same thing in Bd.

It seems it is lucrative market from Asia now a days. One of the faster income generated countries according to WB.

The whole point of smuggling gold is to avoid taxes and customs fees. Because somebody had to pay for the gold initially, and that money will be recouped when they sell it. So the lack of customs fees the taxes for the seller adds to their profit.

You can be sure of that. That's one of the last places I would want to be arrested.

Balance of trade: Bangladesh sends non-native speaking 'English Teachers' to Japan to work in the elementary schools, while Japan in return sends gold smugglers to Dhaka... (And they cannot eat the school lunch for religious reasons!)

Make it into jewelry and wear it. Couple watches, big hoop earrings, torcs (Celtic twisted half circle, etc.

How is it unlawful to smuggle gold ?

It is a tax issue. They could bring it if they paid the huge tax amount on it, in which case it would be pointless. This has been around for a long time. I don´t think they will enjoy the Bangla jail.

I know smuggling is unlawful normally.

Thanks WilliB for start of answer.

But from what amount because many indians like asians can wear many many jewelry on them, with it in gold.

So asking again, max amount of gold can be imported ?

How does one become liable for taxes just by bringing cash, gold or anything else into a country? Because government is glorified mafia, that's how. Greedy mafia that can't wait for sales tax to pile up...and it will....of course...so you get taxed twice...all told...more actually. So yeah, there are perfectly legit reasons to try and avoid that first round of taxation....and several rounds as well.
