Turtle smuggling can land you in jail longer then manslaughter!

I wonder what species the turtles were and from where they were smuggled?

I don't know anything about turtles, but I found another news source that said the men had some Chinese big-headed turtles and Indian Star tortoises. According to Wikipedia, about the Indian star tortoise... "A typical hatchling in the United States costs about $500 from a reputable dealer".

26 years?? If they were caught and indicted in Japan they could simply become Yaks and/or politicians!

If they sincerely apologize to the turtle community for causing trouble and show the jury how they have atoned for their sins by their loss of respect in the turtle smuggling industry, then they may receive a suspended sentence.

Oops. Wrong country.

LAX, eh? Must have been caught because the turtles were speeding through immigration much faster than the humans.

as long as they were not stuffing the teenage mutant ninja turtles.......... what's the problem ?

They will probably get a year or two at most and a steep fine.

Apparently the turtles requested political asylum and are all living peacefully in a condo in Santa Monica...

26 years for smuggling turtles? Less for murder?

I can see it now..."What are you in for Mr. Machete?"..."Murder. How about you Yamagami?"..."turtle smuggling."...
